Faceted Bead Art Gazette April 28, 2004 Issue #0007 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This month I have been completely absorbed working on (designing as well as actually beading) what is for me a brand new FacetedBeadArt concept: "Beaded Curtains". In fact, I have been so involved with this project that I was sort of neglecting creating new patterns for murals/suncatchers. Thankfully Tammy and LaVonne requested specific patterns and that helped me to place equal time and attention in that direction. Thank you Tammy and LaVonne. I hope to be able to write more next month on the 'Bead Curtain' venture, but this month I decided to do a Question / Answer issue. If you have a question and do not find it here, please e-mail me at: shellwcross@facetedbeadart.com Happy Beading to All =:) Shell, Bead Hobbyist - FacetedBeadArt.com Instructions & Instructional Ebook Q: FacetedBeadArt: The Basics - I can't seem to get the ebook to open. A: I have now made available a self-extracting zip file. Many people have had similar problems with the zip file and WinZip. Please go to http://www.facetedbeadart.com/instructions.html to get this new file. Once it is downloaded, just double click it and it should unzip automatically. Q: Are the patterns all done in RAW (Right Angle Weave)? A: Yes, however it is not the usual form of the RAW. You can get tutorials if you need them at... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/instructions.html. These will teach you how to use the Right Angle Weave with my patterns. Q: Do you tie off at the end of every row? A: I use to, but not any more. Q: On the side I tie off, it is nice and flat, but the side I start on is curling. Will this eventually lay flat? A: Yes it will eventually lay flat. Curling is mostly due to loose tension. I like to pull my work tight constantly, this reduces curling dramatically. Ordering & Orders Q: I placed an order through PayPal, but I have not received it. A: When you purchase a product through PayPal, they send you to a Confirm Your Order page that looks like the order is complete. However, if you did not press the 'Pay' button at the bottom of this page the order does not go through. Try checking your PayPal account and seeing if the order shows up. If it does not, it is possible that the order was not processed completely. Login at ... https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_login-run Q: I would like to know how to order using a payment method other than PayPal. A: I unfortunately can only accept online payment thru PayPal at this time. You can order via mail. Just send me a check or money order with a print out of the PayPal Shopping Cart or you can use the Order By Mail Form. http://www.facetedbeadart.com/mail-order-form.html Q: How long does it take to receive the "Your Pattern is Ready" email? A: You usually receive the "Your Pattern is Ready" email the same day as your order, unless ordered after 10 pm EST. If you do not receive the "Your Pattern is Ready" e-mail that day or the next, please e-mail me at shellwcross@facetedbeadart.com. Shipping for Beads & Bead Kits Q: How long does it take beads & bead kits to arrive at my home? A: Orders are usually shipped out the day after you place your order and they usually take 5 to 15 business days to arrive at your home. You will receive a 'Your Order Has Been Shipped' e-mail after your order has been sent out. Q: What is the cost for shipping? A: Shipping is included in the price of all beads and bead kits. There is no extra cost added. Other Q: Do you design patterns for people? A: I am always taking requests and will be glad to look into creating any design. Q: Do you use metal rods and what size as far as length and thickness is needed? A: I use wooden dowels from the craft section at Wal-Mart. For the mural/suncatcher patterns I get 3/8" x 36", this size is enough for at least 2 patterns.
