----- Bracelet/Choker/Hat Band Patterns -----

I was asked a question one day about a windsock. This, all of a sudden, gave me an idea for jewelry patterns. I went and placed a strip over my arm and found the size to be just right.

After this, I found out about a contest at Fire Mountain Gems ( http://www.firemountaingems.com ). The piece had to be composed of items they carried, so I bought some Crystal Beads (which happened to be on sale at the time). Much more affordable at the small size of the jewelry patterns than at the size of my Mural/Suncatchers patterns.

I knew I would not be able to tie the knot inside the bead, so I created a way to secure the string without tying a knot. Just skip the knot part in the instructions and go straight to threading back through. What I did was thread back through about nine beads then made a turn, and threaded thru nine more beads and turned, and threaded thru nine more beads then cut off the excess. This has worked perfectly for both crystal and glass faceted beads. (I do use 10lb instead of 12lb.) Or, you can use Invisible Beading Cord (I found this at Fire Mountain Gems also).

I found that some designs do not work well with the glass beads, also the glass AB colors seem to be a different size from the regular colors and if you go to mix them, you are unable to keep your work snug without causing curling and even if you bead loosely it is hard to get the tension right and curling still happens.

I love the crystal for my jewelry patterns (Soon I will have a page on the site where you will have the option of paying me to bead Bracelet & Chokers up for you.). I would highly recommend them. However, if you are creating for children, the plastic beads make great jewelry also.

I am presently a little behind on everything I want to have done, so I do not have instructions up for embellishing (or the new tie off) just yet. Feel free to e-mail me and let me know you are interested. This will help me get it up even quicker.

----- New Colors -----

I just received 8 new bead colors in the mail. I am hoping to have them up on the site shortly for you to enjoy.

New Colors consist of: Hyacinth, Fuchsia, Dk Ruby, Dk Topaz, Dk Yellow, Lt Amethyst, Green Aqua & Lt Turquoise.

Lots of new stuff. I may need to forgo designing as I try to get everything up on the site. But no worries, Tammy will still have some new Windsock patterns for you until I can get all caught up.

----- Keeping Your Organizer, Organized -----

I shipped my organizer out to Idaho before I left to go out of town. When I received it, the beads were all mixed up - you can imagine the time I had separating them out. While I was in Idaho, my friend Tammy Chevalier showed me how to prevent this. It is really easy and it works. I used this technique on my way home and not one bead got mixed.

Technique: Take two regular sheets of copy paper from your printer. Place them neatly over your beads in your organizer - line up with back of organizer and do not worry about the over hang. Now close your organizer. You're all set!

Happy Beading and Enjoy all the new stuff,
