Faceted Bead Art Gazette April 1, 2004 Issue #0006 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First and foremost, you will want to download my instructional ebook... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/instructions.html Read through the ebook and familiarize yourself with everything that is in it. Next, you will want to create the three practice patterns included in FacetedBeadArt: The Basics. These practice patterns were designed to give you enough practice, so that you will be able to complete any of my other patterns. For your convenience I have provided The Basics Kit for $5.75. This kit comes with enough beads and fishing line to complete all three practice patterns. Please visit http://www.facetedbeadart.com/bead-kits.html to purchase one today. Once you are comfortable with the stitch and how to read the patterns, you will want to move on to something larger. Here you have two choices, depending on your comfort level: 1) Start with a small Beginner's pattern. http://www.facetedbeadart.com/beading-for-beginners.html (and... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/free-bead-work-patterns.html) These patterns make nice suncatchers and only require 1,024 beads. This is less than 1/4 the beads used in most of my larger patterns. Choose a pattern that uses only 3 or 4 colors and then go for one that uses 5 or more. This will help you build confidence as your beading skills increase. 2) If you are a seasoned beader and would like to jump right in with one of my larger patterns... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/bead_work_patterns.html then my suggestions for choosing a pattern to get started with would be: a) Choose a pattern that uses only a few colors. b) Make sure the pattern does not have a lot of small details. c) When choosing a pattern, look at the bottom right corner. Pick one that has mostly one color in this area. Some suggestions: (Rated 1 to 3. 1 being the easiest, 3 being the hardest.) American Flag..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/american-flag-pattern.html Christian Flag..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/christian-flag-pattern.html Snowflake..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/bead-snowflake-pattern.html These patterns only use 3 to 4 colors and do not contain complex detail. Flying High 1 & 2..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/bird-pattern.html & http://www.facetedbeadart.com/bead-bird-pattern.html Lightning..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/lightning-pattern.html The Dove Returns..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/pattern-of-a-dove.html In the Night..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/moon-pattern-star.html Spirit..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/craft-horse-pattern.html Pig..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/pattern-pig.html Giant Panda..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/giant-panda.html Whale Jumping..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/craft_whale_pattern.html Tiger Head..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/craft-tiger-pattern.html Pray Always 1 & 2..... http://www.facetedbeadart.com/christian-craft-pattern.html & http://www.facetedbeadart.com/christian_craft_pattern.html I have created Bead Kits to go with all patterns. These kits have all the beads you will need, without having too many (no purchasing 700 when you only need 10). I would recommend that you purchase a Bead Kit with your pattern. This will help you get started without all the added work of figuring out how many beads to buy. And most of all, I am here to answer your questions. Feel free to email me anytime. No question is too small. If it is stopping you from creating beautiful FacetedBeadArt, then ask it so that you may enjoy this wonderful art form.
