Free bead work patterns may sound like a good idea but if you are just starting out and want to continue with beading, then picking a free craft pattern that is too difficult could alter your perception of beading. Starting out with a simple necklace or bracelet or even earring pattern is usually the safest option. Most free bead work patterns include the main stitches but simply alter where necessary. Practicing the Flat Peyote Stitch, the Tubular Peyote Stitch, the Flat Square Stitch and the Brick Stitch before attempting a free beading pattern will make reading the pattern easier. Another stitch to learn would be the Dutch Spiral Bead work as it is useful when making jewelry. As many of the free beading patterns consist of jewelry, mastering this particular stitch will make for quicker work. |
