----- Uncurling Your Fishing Line -----

Cassie, a good friend of mine, read in a book entitled "The Beader's Palette: Rings, Necklaces, Bracelets, Ensembles, Earrings and Straps", published by Ondori, about how to relax the curl in your fishing line. And it really works great. What you want to do is...

Cut off a length of fishing line and place it in a container of hot water (tap hot or hotter). If tap hot, leave it in for at least 5 minutes. Then remove it, drying the fishing line as you go, and start beading.

Another great idea, sent in by Bev. "You can also cut a length of fishing line and put it under a piece of fabric (larger than the bottom of your iron) on ironing board, set your iron on a polyester setting, lay iron on fabric with line under it and pull the line through."

If you have a place to hang the uncurled line, you might want to do up a few strands. If not, Cassie wraps hers around a 12" ruler.

Try it, I think you will like the result.

----- More Tips for Peyote -----

There are three ways I know of right now to start a peyote project. First is the typical way of stringing on Rows 1 & 2 and then adding Row 3 while threading back through Row 2.

The second way, which is what I use, is to string on Rows 1, 2, & 3 all at the same time. This is called the 2-needle start and you can find instructions for this at...
http://www.beading-frenzy.com/beading_techniques_stiches.htm

On this page, you will find instructions for most stitches. The Two-Needle Start for peyote is about halfway down the page.

The third way is to have a starting strip. For more detail and a free starting strip pattern, please go to...

and get Suzanne's Handy Dandy Peyote Starting Strip - Measuring Tape.

Another great tip is to create a guide for reading Peyote Graphs. To learn how to do this, I highly recommend Sarah's Beading Obsession's Sticky-Note Trick For Reading Peyote Graphs. You can get this FREE pdf at TheBeadCoop ( http://www.thebeadcoop.com )...

Well, I hope you find all this very useful and that your next Peyote pattern will work up nice and easy.
