----- Create Faceted Bead Art and the Complements Will Come -----

When I first started putting patterns up for sale on the web, I wasn't sure how they would be received. I am happy to say they were immediately welcomed. However, as yet, few had actually seen firsthand the finished product.

As time went on though, I started to see that other people shared my view of this beautiful bead art form...

An Inspector's View...

I was away for the day, and when I got home my husband said a woman had come by to inform us of the upcoming blasting that would be occurring nearby. She offered us a free inspection of our home to check for any structural stress points, so that we could have them addressed if needed.

In conducting the inspection she noticed the two 3'x5' Beaded Flags hanging on the hallway wall. She observed them close up and from a distance and expressed that they were "neat", "fascinating", and "quite beautiful." After asking my husband many questions, he asked her if she would like to see the other bead wall hangings I had up. She said yes. She especially liked the Indian Chief, as her husband was full blood Indian. She thought all of them were quite lovely.

My husband said she said that she had never seen anything quite like them before and wondered what they were actually made of and what "strung" them together. She found the combined effect both awesome and unique.

A Designer/Artist/Author's View...

Recently I mailed some of my finished works to Deb Bergs, another designer at the BeadCoop, for a show she was going to. Below are quotes from the conversation we had about them...

Deb: SHELL!!!!

Your box just arrived---these are WONDERFUL!!! I always thought they looked neat in your photos, but wow--in person they are just fantastic!!!...Frank wants to buy the cross one ("Pray Always") for Christmas to give to his sister who is a non. What kind of thread are you using?? These are so cool! We will probably have a space in the sunshine again-so figure to hang them in the sunlight so that they will sparkle and catch their eyes. I've never seen anything like them before!

Shell: Thanks for the wonderful comments. Not too many have seen them, so I didn't really know what others would think.

I don't use thread. I use fishing line. Stern High Impact, 12 lb test, is my favorite.

Deb: Well, it looks fantastic! Like they are floating there without anything holding them.

Shell: Deb, could you write me up a little something on the bead works? I love your feedback and would like to put something on my site if possible.

Deb: OK, off the top of my head-

"One of the most unique forms of bead work I've seen yet! It looks like paintings made up of tiny bits of crackled glass, giving it a stained-glass feeling! By using clear fishing element, the beads appear suspended in thin air. These are WONDERFUL!!"

Shell: I love it! Thank you very much.

Deb: Happy to help!! I have never been able to understand why your patterns aren't flying off our site--They are so different and unique, I can only guess it's because they haven't seen them in person. ... Even my hubby, who is normally pretty disinterested in all the bead stuff, was "wowing" over them when I was unrolling them yesterday.

I wanted to share these comments with you because they gave me so much inspiration and provided me with a renewed sense of enthusiasm.

Thanks so much,
