Such a special time of the year is upon us and we all want to give that gift that no one else will think of and that will be treasured forever. The perfect gift, for the young and the old is a beading kit. With all the tools needed to start in the world of beading, a kit is the perfect gift.

The person you are looking to introduce to the world of beading will determine the type of kit you will purchase. If purchasing a special beading kit for a young child - five years and up having a kit that will create dazzling necklaces and bracelets in any style imaginable will touch their hearts.

Kits could include a coloured star-shaped bowl with dividers, almost limitless beads - approximately 1000 or more beads in assorted colors and shapes, and 40 yards of metallic string.

When trying to capture an older audience, the kit should include a large array of materials.

Listed below is an example of some of the special goodies you could include in a more mature beading enthusiast.

The beading kit could include a few cotton threads (Red, Black, Orange), a White Nylon Thread, a couple of Silken Thread Red and Orange, 50 Caps (Big and Small), 40 Small Silver Flower Spacers, some Big Flower Spacers, Silver Beads, Silver Loops, Silver S Hooks, 20 Gm of Wire, a Needle Pack, a Cutter, a pair of scissors, a Twister, and a large variety of beads from seed beads to glass beads to plastic faceted beads in all shapes and sizes.

Maybe even including a few bead work patterns which are simple to do would help them get started.

Then there are kits you can purchase which specialize in a particular design, such as making bracelets. If putting together a beading kit like this, you will need things like a crimping tool, sterling toggle clasps, crimp tubes, glass beads, a special center piece, spacer beads, antique crystal beads and heavy beading cord.

Beads which are perfect for making attractive bracelets are diamond shaped beads or plastic faceted beads in a variety of colours or even cage beads. Include a basic pattern and you have created the perfect gift.

When it comes to beading, there is a huge array of beading tools which associate with the art of beading. Knowing about each individual tool is not necessary but knowing what is out there is important as many patterns mention a particular tool and being familiar with the names of the tools will make it easier to follow.

Some tools you may hear along the way when reading a beading pattern are: special glues, boards, tweezers, clasps, needles, gum Arabic, natural beeswax, threads, pin vise and even a thread burner. Being aware of what is out there puts you a step ahead of the rest.
